Inspiration: Elektra movie & Online RPG
The main character of this story, Jasheena, was actually created for an online RPG gaming group I joined back in the early 2000s. Our characters were allowed to have 2 major powers and 1 muted power.
I was fascinated by the living tattoos on one of the bad guys in the movie, and thought it would be cool to have a character that had tattoos that came alive. However, in the RPG, I took it a step further. I made the tattoos psionic and sentient. No longer were they just psionic &mindless, I gave them names and personalities. I also added to this sentience the ability for them to utilize one of Jasheena’s powers (healing & death field generation).
The group disbanded decades ago, and I was left with an intriguing character with nowhere to go. Last year, I rediscovered her when I was doing housecleaning with my containers of writing journals, binders, etc. She came out of the box, and suddenly, I was getting ideas from her. Instead of her being a mutant and set in a present-day setting, why not put her in a fantasy setting? Thus, the idea of Tat War was born.
