This post is a little belated because on Monday, December 30, I fell sick. I was out of it for two days. Once I regained my senses, I went to the ER and discovered that I had COVID and bronchitis. What a way to end 2024 and ring in 2025.
I’m feeling much better now, so it is time to do my end-of-the-year wrap-up and my upcoming year’s resolutions. So here goes:
2024 Review
I spent the early half of 2024 working on Werelove book #5 and managed to get up to chapter 49 with a word count of over 60k for the first quarter of the book. I slowed down on writing it in March because I moved back to the county where my family lived. This did not stop my writing.
My creativity and writing mojo had finally returned after being on a bit of hiatus because of the constant life changes and struggles I’ve gone through in the past seven years since my amazing husband, Rich, passed away. They say time heals a lot of wounds and I guess I had more than I knew. I definitely had arrived at a better place mentally, emotionally, and physically. While I took a small break from Werelove, I branched out to reading apps that I had discovered during 2023. I enjoyed reading stories on them and was pleased to discover they were looking for authors.
I had nothing to lose and everything to gain. However, I was a little leery because of my failure with Kindle Vella and not getting any traction on some serials I wanted to attempt. However, I was undaunted. I usually charge forth and explore and if that doesn’t work, back up and find another way. So I took the plunge. I was pleasantly surprised when Inkitt took a liking to my Halos and Horns: Dark Embrace that I had attempted on Kindle Vella and asked that I publish my story on their platform. I decided to do it for free. I wanted to see if this story that had been living in my head since 2023 could snag an audience. I’m pleased to report that it is doing well in its new home. You can READ THE SERIAL HERE.
I started a second serial called His Precious One. This serial is a shifter story based on a prompt contest at hopwriters.com. The prompt intrigued me so I decided to use it to start a new shifter storyline. If you would like to read it YOU CAN FIND IT HERE.
I also outlined twelve other stories which included several novels and serial ideas. I will reveal those upcoming ideas in future posts. If you want to know about these future stories before other readers, please subscribe to my mailing list. I do not spam my readers and at most, you will get 1-2 emails from me a month.
2025 PREVIEW
I’m very ambitious when it comes to setting goals. I’ve always believed in reaching for the stars and going for broke. I celebrate my accomplishments and reevaluate my failures so that I can improve. With that said, here are my writing goals for this brand, shiny new year.
- Complete and publish Werelove book 5
- Begin writing the sequel to Las Armas: The Rising
- Begin writing book 3 in the Elemental Symphony series
- Begin work on three serials for Hopwriters that were created based on their writing prompts
- Begin writing the sequel to Moonbeams
- Begin the sequel to Dream Miner
- Commission new covers for several of my back catalog books
- Offer more ARC opportunities to readers
- Open my online store to sell my books and associated products
- Write a novel and query agents to see if I can break into the traditional publishing arena
- Hold more reader contests (I miss doing those. I did so many back in the day so I thought, why not bring them back)
- Restart my Youtube channel Kishaz Talks vlog series. You can watch them here.
- Begin my Talkshoe podcast show with fellow authors (More details coming later)
- Increase my Tik Tok reach for those who don’t know me and my works
I think this is a good start. Let this year be as amazing and forward-moving as 2024.
